Ingredients we exclude from every diffuser oil

Cats lack the liver enzyme (UDP-glucuronosyltransferase) needed to metabolize many phenolic and monoterpene compounds in essential oils, which is why Scentiment formulates without:

• Tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) — phenolic terpene, toxic to cats and dogs at low concentrations.
• Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium) — pulegone is hepatotoxic to dogs and cats.
• Pine and wintergreen oils — methyl salicylate and pine phenols cause GI distress and CNS effects.
• Concentrated d-limonene citrus oils — irritant to feline respiratory mucosa at airborne levels.
• Sweet birch (Betula lenta) — high methyl salicylate content.
• Cinnamon bark and clove (high eugenol) — reported toxicity in cats and small dogs.
• Ylang-ylang at sensitizing thresholds — restricted under IFRA Category 11 limits.
• Peppermint, spearmint, and other mint oils above veterinary safety guidance.

Why cold-air diffusion is different from candles, plug-ins, and ultrasonic mist

Scentiment's nebulizing diffuser uses pressurized air to disperse fragrance as a fine micro-mist — no heat, no water, no carrier solvents. The output evaporates within seconds, leaves no residue on fur, food bowls, or surfaces, and produces none of the carbon byproducts that wax warmers, soy candles, or aerosol plug-ins emit. The oil itself is the only fragrance vehicle; there are no glycol ethers or alcohol propellants for pets to inhale.

Recommended use in homes with pets

• Diffuse in well-ventilated rooms with at least one open doorway so pets can leave at will.
• Use the default ON 1–2 minutes / OFF 10–15 minutes cycle on Scentiment devices — this maintains scent without saturating the air.
• Place the diffuser where pets cannot access the bottle directly. Undiluted fragrance oil is for diffusion only, never topical contact.
• Speak with your veterinarian first if your animal has asthma, chronic respiratory conditions, or is a bird, reptile, or small caged mammal.

Scentiment discloses all 26 EU-listed fragrance allergens (Annex III to Cosmetic Regulation 1223/2009) above their reportable thresholds — 0.001% in leave-on products, 0.01% in rinse-off — so families with sensitivities can make informed decisions. Why cold-air diffusion is well-suited to nurseries and bedrooms

Cold-air nebulizing diffusion produces no thermal byproducts, no soot, no benzene, and no formaldehyde — all of which are concerns associated with paraffin candles and certain wax warmers. The micro-droplet evaporates within seconds and leaves no surface residue on cribs, plush toys, or bedding. The fragrance is delivered in metered ON / OFF cycles rather than continuous saturation, so the room never reaches concentrations associated with respiratory irritation.

• Place the diffuser out of arm's reach of toddlers and young children.
